Unemployed 20-Year-Old Sentenced To 30-Year imprisonment For Robbery

A 20year old Kwadwo Opoku, unemployed, has been sentenced to 30yrs imprisonment in hard labour for Robbery.

Court prosecutor ASP Newlove Adjei told the court presided over by H/H Fred Obekyere Esq that on 23/02/2023 at midnight, a level hundred student of AAMUSTED left home to proceed for lectures and, upon reaching offline interchange met Kwadwo Opoku coming from the opposite direction.


Kwadwo Opoku,  seeing the student walking alone, ordered her to surrender all her belongings to him. The student pleaded with Kwadwo to spare her since she was a student and had no money with her. Still, Kwadwo turned a deaf ear to her plea, rushed on her and forcefully snatched her school bag containing one lady watch, exercise book, textbook and a phone charger, all valued at GH 700.00 and subsequently took to his heels.


Kwadwo OPOKU was given a hot chase by the neighbours, who heard the student shouting for help and arrested him. The school bag was taken from him and sent to the Suntreso police.


He pleaded not guilty before the court, but after several investigations, he was found guilty and was sentenced to 30yrs imprisonment in hard labour.
