GHANASS Headmistress suspended over alleged sale of 'unapproved' items

The Ghana Education Service has suspended the headmistress of Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS) in Koforidua over selling unapproved items to Form One students.

In a press release by the Eastern Regional Director of Education, Mrs. Ivy Asantewaa Owusu, on Thursday, December 7, 2023, the unauthorized items included ceremonial cloth and tracksuits.

The Ghana Education Service has asked the GHANASS headmistress, Patience Naki Mensah, to resign while further investigating the allegations.

Other headteachers, including Ms Nadia Lartechoe Annan of O'Reilly Senior High School, are facing similar suspensions for supposedly charging illegal fees since the initiation of the Free SHS policy.

The suspensions arrive as part of the Ghana Education Service's efforts to maintain transparency and commitment to guidelines within the educational system.
