Your appointee’s caused your downfall Chief tells to Mahama

A paramount Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area chief has suggested that former President John Mahama's defeat in the 2016 general elections resulted from wrong appointees.

Okatakyie Bumanagama II, who commended the NDC flagbearer for his good works during his tenure, added that Ghanaians know what he did. Still, his challenge before his appointees caused the 2016 polls.

"Your appointees must put in the measure to ensure that Ghanaians are aware of the job you have done since 1992 so that the whole world can see it".

He said Mr Mahama's appointees could not preach about the projects the NDC government undertook then.

He made this revelation when the NDC flagbearer paid a courtesy call on him at the Okogyeabuor's palace at Sefwi Wiawso, the Western Regional Capital, as part of his four-day campaign tour to the Region.

In response, the chief of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, The former President, promised Okatakyie Bumanagama II and the Ealders a public university, regular potable water, good roads, and an accessible telecom network.

He said, "One thing I noticed was the neglected roads. During my tenure, we invested a percentage of cocoa revenue in road construction, but unfortunately, my successors have not completed it."

He attributed the destructive nature of the roads to neglect by the Akufo-Addo-led administration.

"The roads are now wretched. After the creation of new regions, it has been noticed that there is no public university in Western North Region.

"We shall meet respective stakeholders and at an appropriate time and following due processes ensure that Western North Region has a public university that serves everyone," he said.
