Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has emphatically denied knowing or endorsed the "Dr. Bawumia For 2024" posters currently trending on social media.

Who leads the NPP into the 2024 Presidential election has been topical after the 2020 elections which saw Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo being given his 2nd term making him ineligible to run again for Presidency by the constitution.

The New Patriotic Party has since been sharply divided into two main factions; Dr. Bawumia and Alan Kyeremateng.

A cross-section of the party supporters believes Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia is the sure bet if the NPP can break the 8-year curse for another 8 years.

Other sections hold the view that the current Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng is the next of kin per the NPP tradition.

It appears supporters of both sides are campaigning vigorously on social media and other avenues with posters of the duo being splashed on the streets.

The two sides have been heavily criticized for taking early showers since the second term of President Akufo Addo is just about three months old after swearing-in.

Reacting to the posters, Vice President, Dr. Bawumia through his mouthpiece; Dr. Gideon Boako in a statement says the office of the Vice President has nothing to do with the posters.

According to the statement, His Excellency Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia remains focused and committed to ensuring that the 2nd term of the Akufo Addo administration delivers on their mandate to Ghanaians.
