Ghanaian Rapper Ayigbe Edem was arraigned Monday, December 11 2023, at the Kaneshie District Court for allegedly knocking down a woman on the George Walker Bush Highway last Saturday at about 2 a.m. after a television programme at United Showbiz on Utv.
According to multiple reports, the musician was driving a Honda Touring vehicle with registration number GX 3011-19 when the incident happened. Court document indicates that the unknown woman, who is believed to be a 40-year-old, has passed on as a result of severe injuries.
Our source confirmed that the 40-year-old victim was rushed to the Police Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by the medical doctor on duty. Indications carried out by our team suggest that the victim was 'naked' when crossing the car on the highway. The vehicle turned upside down after the impact.
A report was issued at the Tesano police MTTD in Accra after the accident. The Kaneshie District Court presided over by Nana Abena Asor Owusu Amenyo, ruled that the "Toto hitmaker" was careless and selfish, causing damage.
The rapper has been granted GH¢50,000 bail with two sureties even though his appeal was initially rejected when he mounted the dock. He will re-appear on February 15, 2024. Edem is currently assisting the police service with further investigation.
